Olipop Review and Flavor Rankings

About OLIPOP

Olipop is a prebiotic soda alternative drink aimed at supporting digestion while tasting like your everyday soda. Olipop technically considers itself to be a sparkling tonic. It contains 40 calories per can and no refined sugar and provides high levels of fiber and a few beneficial botanicals that help your digestive system thrive. This health-based take on soda gained huge interest recently and you can now find them in tons of grocery and convenience stores. In this article we will dive deep into what's inside Olipop and I'll review and rank all of their flavors.

What's inside Olipop? A Look At The Ingredients

The most important aspect to every single Olipop cola can is that it contains 9 grams of fiber. Yes, you read that right, 9 grams of fiber in a soda alternative that taste like real soda. Fiber helps slow digestion of sugars and starches and prevent insulin spikes. Fiber is also incredibly important for your gut microbiome as it allows your gut to produce probiotics. The dietary fiber that is in Olipop is considered a prebiotic which the kind that is great for your digestive health.

Each can of soda contains between 3-5 grams of sugar which is super low for how delicious it tastes. Olipop prides itself on using organic natural ingredients and flavors. Each flavor is sweet but not too sweet. The sweetener that they use is Stevia, which I know some people don't love but I personally don't really taste it and their flavor profile relies on much more than Stevia, so even if you aren't a stevia fan I would give Olipop a try. Another thing I love about their ingredients is that they use extremely high quality ingredients. One example is that they use Himalayan pink salt for their salt instead of a cheaper less nutrient dense salt.

Olipop Signature Ingredients (OLISMART): Cassava Root, Chicory Root, Jerusalem Artichoke, Nopal Cactus, Calendula Flower, Kudzu Root, Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm Bark.

What makes Olipop Soda different from regular Soda?

Olipop has many health benefits that traditional soda doesn't have, such as improving your digestive health. Health benefits aside, the most notable difference is the sugar content and sources. Olipop contains no refined sugars and only has between 3 and 5 grams of sugar per can. On the other hand, traditional soda contains around 40 grams of sugar, typically refined sugars. One can of traditional soda is almost double your daily recommended sugar intake while you can comfortably fit an Olipop into a healthy diet. Olipop also contains all natural ingredients and flavors while traditional soda does not. While Olipop and traditional soda are equally as delicious, they truly couldn't be more different nutritionally.

Olipop vs. Other Similar Brands

Over the past year or so, healthier alternatives to soda have been growing rapidly. It seems that many people are trying to jump on the bandwagon of Olipop's success. Probably the most similar is Poppi, who has incredibly similar health claims but without as much fiber. If you're sensitive to fiber you could give them a try, but I personally don't like their flavor as much as Olipop.

Where can I buy OLIPOP?

Olipop is getting easier and easier to access as they're in more than 4500 retailers across the US. I have personally seen them in pretty much every single grocery store and Bodega that I've been in. You can also purchase Olipop off of their website drinkolipop.com. On their website you can buy a variety pack to sample a ton of different flavors to find your favorite. In stores and online, you can purchase a can of Olipop for about $3.

Olipop Review: Flavor Ranking

There are plenty of flavor options and there's a large number of bacteria involved. Fortunately, each one can give your gut an aroma, as well as your taste buds, your waistlines and overall health. We're about to show you the most delicious sodas from a classic line inspired in some way by retro favorites. Each choice will sell in 12 packs or 12 units each. Would you mind submitting an offer? Ginger Lemon

This is my all-time favorite flavor of Olipop, and one that I reach for about 80% of the time that I have an Olipop Soda. There's something so refreshing about the Ginger lemon flavor that I love, it also tastes like ginger ale which I love. I reach for this drink when I'm low on fiber for the day, or my gut feels like it could benefit from a little extra boost of prebiotics.

Root Beer

Root beer brings me right back to my childhood, and Olipop has nailed it on the head for this flavor profile. The Olipop root beer tasted like a healthier alternative to your classic root beer soda and I quite honestly would have no reason to ever reach for a classic root beer soda ever again because the Olipop root beer version is just that good.

Cream Soda

There's nothing I love more than a Pastrami Sandwhich paired with a Dr. Browns Diet Cream Soda. I only have them once or twice a year because I try to stay away from traditional soda. So I was really excited when I saw Olipop release this flavor because it allows me to indulge in a flavor and taste that I love without any guilt.

Olipop is perfectly carbonated and sweet so it feels like a treat but it also improves your gut microbiome with 9 grams of fiber and organic natural ingedients and flavors that you feel good about putting in your body. Plus, there's nothing better than the creamy vanilla flavor of a cream soda.

Orange Cream

I was excited to try this flavor as I really love cream soda and also I loved those Orange Creamsicle pops as a kid. I was delighted when the Orange Cream flavor tasted exactly as I had hoped. It starts off with a refreshing orange flavor and finishes nice and creamy. The taste far succeeded my expectations.

Strawberry Vanilla

I love this flavor because you can taste the natural strawberry juice and vanilla bean in this cola. I love Olipop sodas because they focus on making their flavor profile from the natural ingredient itself instead of "natural flavoring". None of their sodas taste like fake flavor and you can tell the thought and purpose behind each ingredient from this brand. Strawberry vanilla is sweet and refreshing and will add a little happiness to your day.

Tropical Punch

I would describe this as their sweetest flavor. I would describe it to you myself, but I think that Olipop has the perfect description. They describe it as follows, "Like a vacation for your tastebuds, Tropical Punch perfectly balances pineapple, passion fruit, mandarin, and apple juices for a crisp, juicy and nostalgic flavor reminiscent of your favorite childhood fruit punch". It is one of their best selling soda flavors and it certainly is tropically delicious. This sweet cola is great on it's own but would also make a great mixer.

Orange Squeeze

Orange squeeze tastes exactly as you imagine it to taste like. It sits somewhere between orange soda and Emergen-C in terms of flavor. If that super orange flavor is something that you love, then I'm sure you'll like Orange squeeze Olipop soda.

Cherry Vanilla

Cherry Vanilla beat my expectations because I don't usually love cherry flavored things. Olipop does natural vanilla flavor so well that any of their sodas that use vanilla flavor ends up tasting really great. If you love a sweet, creamy vanilla flavor, then cherry vanilla will be for you.

Doctor Goodwin

Olipop describes the Doctor Goodwin flavor as, "Doctor Goodwin is a head-on collision of ingredients like rich plums, sweet prunes and zesty tart cherries with a touch of pure vanilla extract for a true soda enigma the Doctor would actually order". This flavor is a bit hard to describe but not too far off from the regular soda version. Doctor Goodwin also contains some caffeine from green tea.

Cherry Cola

I'm not the biggest fan of vintage cola, so adding cherry to that flavor only made it slightly better. I wouldn't reach for cherry cola again but I don't think it was their worst.

Classic Grape

I am not a fan of traditional grape soda because I don't like grape flavoring but Olipop uses organic natural ingredients, this tastes of really great concord grape juice which I loved as a child. Classic Grape is one that I would reach for again if I was in the mood for some concord flavors.

Vintage Cola

I'll be honest in saying I think that Vintage cola is their weakest cola. It has a spice flavor to it that isn't my particular favorite taste. While cinnamon is the last ingredient listed, I think it comes through a bit too strongly for a cola taste. If you really love cinnamon and traditional cola flavor then you might like this and could be worth giving the Vintage Cola a shot. Another thing to note is that Vintage cola contains 50 mg of caffeine from green tea.

Bonus: Crisp Apple

Crisp apple is a new limited addition flavor for fall 2022. I thought that it would taste like a sparkling cider but it does not. It tasted like a sparkling green apple juice. It was still really good but not the crisp apple cider I was hoping for.

Quick summary of OLIPOP Soda Review

Overall, Olipop is a phenomenal alternative to regular soda. Their flavors all taste even better than you could hope for in a sparkling tonic. Packed with prebiotics, 9 grams of fiber, and only 40-50 calories each you can't go wrong trying one of these drinks. Whether you're trying to kick your soda habit or just looking to get a little more fiber in your diet, Olipop has you covered. This brand does carbonated drinks right and their sodas are a product that I have on a weekly basis because the taste is great and the nutrition is even better.
